La Jeusseliniere is the farm in France where Martyn Wyndham-Read and his wife Danni held their summer music school. I was fortunate enough to be a tutor on there on several occasions.
lyrics
As the sun rises high
And the circling bird’s cry
Is the only sound I ever hear
As the barn shadow falls
On the old cottage walls
I know why this place calls me each year
For it’s here I find peace
Where the world’s sorrows cease
And my heart is released from its toil
Where the tree offers fruits
The vine sends its shoots
And the wild cherry roots in the soil
And I leave well behind
All those things that I find
Cause me pain and distress and despair
They don’t travel with me
When I sail ‘cross the sea
And drive down to La Jeusseliniere
My friends bring their song
And their laughter along
Both belong on the sweet summer air
Wine warms the night
‘Till the stars in delight
Shine so bright on La Jeusseliniere
And when winter brings cold
So my body feels old
And the ice and snow hold us in thrall
I will still close my eyes
Till my freed spirit flies
Where the circling bird cries for us all
And I’ll leave well behind
All those things that I find
Cause me pain and distress and despair
They won’t travel with me when I sail ‘cross the sea
And drive down to La Jeusseliniere
They won’t travel with me
When I sail ‘cross the sea
And drive down to La Jeusseliniere
